This will be my last post for this semester since we will continue to work on the CCA until the very last day of class. Your final exam will assess your reading expectations so you should review the work we’ve done on reading strategies.
Good luck!

Today we are beginning our CCA. I will first show you an example of the CCA and I will hand out the folders you will keep your work in. You must be present every day in order to be successful with this assignment. There will be a new assignment due at the end of each class and you will receive a mark each day for your progress.
Please bring your book club portfolio to class and return any outstanding books.
Today’s agenda:
We will take up the discussion questions from yesterday. Then we will read scenes 7 and 8 in class.
Next, we’ll discuss the qualities of a good reading response journal and you will write a reading response journal:
By the end of scene 3, we see the theme of the “primal” or “primitive” explored in the violence of the poker night. At the end of scene 4, Blanche expressed her opinions about Stanley and his primitive nature. In scene 5 we see this explored in the violence between Steve and Eunice.
Discuss the development of this theme by making specific reference to the play. You should comment on specific lines. What is Tennessee Williams saying about this idea of violence and the primitive. How do Stella’s ideas differ from Blanche’s? Is Williams condoning violence?
Write at least a page and include specific quotations.
For homework, please finish reading the play.
Today we saw an awesome version of the poker night scene from Streetcar. I’ve never seen Stanley Kowalski played by a girl before but way to go Katrena! In fact you all did well. Thanks to all our actors with special props going out to Kevin as Mitch. That was awesome! Thanks to Celine and Asher for taping. I’m working on editing right now.
Your homework was to finish reading scenes 4 and 5.
I will be at PD tomorrow but I’ll be at the school and Mr.Ball will be in for me.
Today’s agenda:
1) You will have time to briefly review the events of scene 2 before a content quiz.
2) After the content quiz you will read through scene 3 silently, if you are reading for a character, make sure you are familiar with your lines and stage directions. Everyone else should make note of any props, sound effects and or other details that are necessary.
3) We will stage the scene in front of the class with as many props, sound effects, and costumes as we can come up with.
4) If time permits, you will write a journal response outlining your opinion of all the characters in the play so far.
Your film reviews are due today! I will not take anymore after this week.
Today we completed a note on the themes in Streetcar and read scene 2 of the play.
You have discussion questions that are due tomorrow for scene 1 and 2. These questions were handed out prior to the break so you should have a copy even if you were absent today.
