Monday May 31/10

Order! Order! The trials of Stanley Kowalski, Stella Kowalski, and Blanche Dubois will now begin.

You will have about 5 minutes to get organized and then we’ll start with Stanley’s trial, then Stella’s, and then Blanche’s. Please hand in your assignment sheet so I can use the rubric to assess your work. Good luck!

Friday May 28/10

Today is your last day for working on prepping the trial. All three trials will be held on Monday and then we’ll be starting our CCA on Tuesday.

Thursday May 27/10

We’ve got about 2 minutes of Streetcar to finish up. Then you’ll have about 10 minutes to finalize your notes and hand them in.

Next we’ll begin the Streetcar on Trial culminating task (On edmodo if you need a digital copy).

Wednesday May 26/10

We’ll begin today be discussing some of the similarities and differences you saw in the film version of A Streetcar Named Desire and then continue watching the film.

When finished, you will hand in your notes, and we’ll begin the Streetcar on Trial culminating task.

Tuesday May 25/10

For homework I asked you to finish reading A Streetcar Named Desire. We are now going to watch the 1951 film version of this play. A couple things to keep in mind:

1) Censorship rules were much more strict when it came to movies than when it came to theatre.

2) Acting styles were a little different in 1951 than they are today. Things weren’t quite as subtle.

As you watch, take notes on the differences and similarities that you notice between the film version and the play that we read. You will record these notes in a venn diagram.

Friday May 21/10

We will begin today with the in-class journal. You may use your notes and book. The journal must be submitted this period.

When you are finished, continue reading Streetcar. Have the play finished by Tuesday.

Thursday May 20/10

We’ll start today be presenting the information your worked on in your small groups.

Then you will complete the questions on scenes 6 and 7. They are due at the end of class. (posted on edmodo)

Tomorrow you will be writing an in-class journal. You may use your notes and copy of the play, but it will be treated like a test.

Wednesday May 19/10

Shortened day today. Here’s the schedule:

PERIOD 1 8:25 – 9:00
PERIOD 2 9:00 – 9:35
PERIOD 3 9:40 – 10:15

Tuesday May 18/10

Today we will begin by taking up the questions for scene 4.
Then you will work on reading scene 5 in small groups and analyze the scene for use of symbols, motifs, themes, and/or character development.

Monday May 17/10

Great work on the poker night scene from Streetcar on Friday. Best performance yet!

For homework, I asked you to read scene 4. We will do a quick quiz to make sure you completed that.

Then we’ll read scene 5 and you’ll have some questions to complete for scenes 4 and 5. They are uploaded to edmodo.
