Don’t forget that you must finish reading A Streetcar Named Desire over the holidays.

Well today we’re supposed to act our scene 3, but I’m going to wait and see if we actually have all the props and people we need before I say we’ll go ahead with it.

Either way, you need to finish reading scenes 4 and 5 and finish the journal from yesterday (see yesterday’s post) for homework if you haven’t already done so.

Today you’re going to read scenes 4 and 5. You can either do this in small groups where you each take turns reading or you can read independently.

When you’re done you need to write a journal response of at least one page:

Refer back to your notes on themes and symbols in A Streetcar Named Desire. What themes and symbols have you seen in the play so far? How do the symbols add to our understanding of the play? How have the themes been developed?

Today we’re going to act out the Poker Night scene.

This is a big scene and a LOT happens during it. We’re going to read through it once and then do a “walk through”.

Then we’ll watch the film version of last year’s scenes and you can decide which class did a better job.

Today we’ll read the first scene from A Streetcar Named Desire and finish the introductory note on the play.

Please remember your research reports are due before the Christmas holidays. So if you’re leaving early, you must hand in your typed report before you leave.

Hi everyone. We don’t have time for a research work period, so you’re going to be on your own for the rest of the research report.  While the three snow days were nice, they do have a down side.

We’re going to be working on A Streetcar Named Desire today. We have our intro note to finish and then we’ll do some reading. After we read scene one, we’ll watch this video:

How did your impression of the main characters match up with the movie version?

Hope you all enjoyed your extra extra long weekend. As luck would have it, I’m away today at a conference learning all about technology.

We’ve lost two research days in the library, so that means you’re going to responsible for a lot of the work on your own. I will push the report due date to the 17th, but I MUST have it before Christmas holidays.

So make VERY good use of your time in the library today. Mr. Ball will be taking notes on how well you are working which will determine whether or not I can allow any additional work periods.

I’m absent today. Mr. Ball is going to finish the Intro to A Streetcar Named Desire with you today.

Then I would like you to look through your notes and discuss with a partner what you think is going to happen in the play and why you think this. After you’ve discussed, write approximately one well-developed paragraph where you explain and support your ideas.

If there’s time, Mr. Ball will hand out the copies of the play and you will read the first scene.

Homework: research for your report.

Today we will work on creating the outline for your research report and then identify the information you will need to research for each heading. We will also talk about how to verify a website’s credibility.

Then we will introduce the play “A Streetcar Named Desire.”

Today we’re in the computer lab for our usual blogging session. I’d like you to write a post about your final thoughts on the book and then you can work on research for your report.
