Once you are done your work for “We” you can get a copy of the next short story that you will be comparing to “We”.
Monday February 25/13
Today you are going to the lab to type up your retells of the short story We. These are due at the end of the period, completed or not. If you are not able to print, please put it in my hand-in folder.
An effective retell has the following characteristics:
- Writer accurately includes all of the events of the original story
- Writer uses language effectively to create atmosphere of horror/suspense
- Writer uses exposition to add background information not included in original story
- Writer uses appropriate tone and voice
- Writer uses proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation
If you were away yesterday, scroll down to Friday’s post for a copy of the story and questions.
Thursday February 21/13
Today we’re going to review the 3 streams of horror and then work on the article, Scared Witless and the questions that follow. Keep in mind my feedback from yesterday on how to answer the discussion questions. You need to completely address each question and explain your ideas clearly using evidence from the text.
Tuesday February 19/13
Today we will be recording the essays and working on the personal response to Stephen King on Fear.
Friday February 15/13
We’ll begin today with some silent reading.
Then I’ll hand back your Stephen King on Fear questions and give you a chance to finish them.
Your personal essays are due today for peer editing. This part isn’t optional. You get marks for demonstrating your understanding of the personal essay by editing someone else’s.
Recordings will begin on Tuesday unless you bring a recorded copy of it on Tuesday.
