Now that we’re finished reading One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, we’re going to watch the film version! You will be doing a comparison of the play and the movie so make sure you take good notes as you watch.

Tuesday May 21/13

Today I’ll be handing back your reports and your rubrics for your business letters.

We need to send the letters ASAP and most of you still have some major corrections to do.

Then you will have time to work on the memo from Nurse Ratched assignment.

Monday May 13/13

Before we do anything else I want to give you a quick reminder that your research reports are due tomorrow.

We’re going to be starting our play One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. In order to understand some of the big ideas in this play I’m going to show you a Prezi that covers the main ideas. You are expected to take notes as you watch. The main headings you’ll need to organize your notes are as follows:

  • About the author
  • Inspiration
  • Narration
  • Main Characters
  • Key Ideas
  • The American Dream

Be prepared for a quiz on this tomorrow.

How to Read a Drama

Friday May 10/13

Today we’ll have the netbooks to use to type up the good copies of the business letters. First you will have to peer edit the business letter.

The good copies of the business letter will be due at the end of class.

Thursday May 9/13

Today we’ll have our final book club meeting and then you’ll finish your rough draft of your letter to Ray Hughes. We will peer edit and type up the good copy tomorrow. You may use any additional time to work on the research report.

Wednesday May 8/13

Today I’m away and you’ll be working on your discussion questions for your final book club. You will also be working on your rough draft of your letter to Ray Hughes to give him feedback on the 4th R book clubs.

Tuesday May 7/13

Today we’ll review effective graphics and talk about how you can incorporate them in your research reports.

Then we’ll discuss the qualities of an effective business letter. You will write what you think is the “world’s worst business letter” demonstrating that you know all the rules (by intentionally breaking them. :)
