Today we are going to go down to the library to choose some independent reading books. You may read fiction or non-fiction. You may bring in a book from home if you prefer, but I would like you to choose a book today from the library for back up.
Once you’ve signed out your book, please read silently. At some point this period, I want you to log on to the class blog and comment on this blog post. In your comment, tell me what book you’ve chosen and tell me what your first impressions of this book are.
Make sure that you’ve handed in your reading diagnostic from yesterday.
i am going to be reading the book Black And White. i hope to find out that it is a book about a black boy/girl and a white boy / girl going around trying to fall in love.
or going through society… something along those lines. with racism
I chose The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. My first impression was that the book was going to be suspensful and dramatic. I heard that the book is really good so I am excited to finish the first out of the series and continue with the other books.
The book I chose was The Uglies. When i first began to read the book i was a little shocked the way the books society worked. The way that the right of passage was to get plastic surgery at age 16 and that people where placed in society based on looks alone. I am excited to see where this book takes me.
Im reading Go Ask Alice by Anonymous. What lead me to reading this book was that all my friends told me what an amazing book this is. Ive also read books by Ellen Hopkins and I love those kind of books so im sure i will enjoy this book!
You will love it!
I chose the book Angus, thongs, and full- frontal snogging because it looks like it will be really funny. It is written like a diary and talks about her cat Angus, I like cats.
Have you read The Hunger Games? You would probably like that too.
i’m gonna try and read “i am now the girlfriend of a sex god” haha it’s a diary about a british girl apparently and it’s just really random and kind of funny.
I decided to read Wolf Island, I started to read a couple pages and it looks interesting. I am looking forward to reading more of this book.
I decided to read the Hunger Games.. first of the series. I’ve already read the series, but when I first heard of the it, I was intrigued because it’s based in a harsh society where people throw what’s we hold most valuable to us into a game of murder to simply show that they’re powerful, as well as the factor that we can relate to the characters so easily because we’re the same age.
