Heather, I've had great success with Edmodo. The biggest thing I've learned is not to focus too much on the kids who are negative about the things I'm trying. Over the semester I've learned that for most of those kids (not that there are tonnes), it's just part of their persona. It's not cool to get excited about learning, but then some of the best work they did all semester was on the ning. Good luck!

And Anne, no worries. Sometimes I even type my own name as Dankia. Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts!

It seems just when you feel all alone, someone else is going through the same thing you are! I have shared the same thoughts about using tech in my class as you have...even the stumbling blocks. I have the same reflections on my students...they can text, FB and YouTube with the best of them, but don't know what else to do with tech. I am even using Edmodo next week!

Dankia this is a very inspirational post, all the more so because of the reflection on both stumbling blocks and successes. What a great way to encourage other teachers to integrate tech and to enjoy the process along with their students.
