ENG 4C Unit One

Submitted for your approval: Unit 1 of ENG 4C, Barker-style. This is just the outline of course, but my plan is to make each strand a major focus for each unit. The first unit is mostly diagnostic but the focus will be on the Oral Communication strand. I’ve included links (wherever possible) to the resources I plan to use and I have also attached my course outline (planning version, not official version) so you can see how this unit fits into the whole. I know the last thing my teacher friends want to think about right now is planning but I’d love any feedback you’re willing to provide.

  1. Barker, you are awesome. This is pretty dang impressive, I gotta say. I would love to talk with you sometime in the very nearish futurish about the decisions you made for your 4C stuff. Coolio, julio.

  2. And what’s the deal with this Scribd site (is that a short i or a long i sound?)? And as I keep telling Jakobi, slow the heck down with all of your exploring so the rest of us plebes can catch our breath from sprinting to keep up with yous.

    • Ha ha ha! Scribd is kind of cool. In my head I say it with a long i. It’s basically a site that lets you publish digitally in a variety of forms and then embed those documents (if you want) into a blog or website. Last time I posted something I actually used voicethread which I totally heart, but this time I thought I’d try something that was easier to view. Thanks for commenting!

  4. Wow – this is really cool – I love that Soulpancake Website and I am glad you found a way to work it in – what digital recording platform will you use? Will their independent reading program be a portfolio style? Can I share this with AQ class? I love the assessment plan- I have never done one and now that I see it I can’t imagine why I didn’t do one – it is so helpful in planning stuff. You can answer all this stuff at lunch! Wendy
